The United Kingdom is set to progress with employing the total value of immobilized Russian assets to support the Ukrainian defense operations, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a joint statement, the heads of state of the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany asserted that this joint measure would heighten pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin and urge the Russian Federation to come to the table.

They clarified that the move would be executed in tight collaboration with the US.

British penalties have frozen over £25bn of Russia's funds since Moscow began its widespread offensive against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. But, up to this point, funds sent to the Ukrainian government using Russian assets had exclusively been sourced from earnings and returns generated on them.

Sir Keir told Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany were in agreement in their goal to advance efforts toward using the complete amount of the immobilized Russian sovereign funds to conclude the conflict.

He stated that further restrictions in the coming days and weeks would heighten the tension on Moscow.

This declaration follows EU officials gathered in Copenhagen last week to discuss utilizing frozen Russia's holdings for a €140 billion credit to the Ukrainian nation.

In the previous month, American leader Donald Trump urged G7 allies to seize or otherwise use seized Russian assets, as reported by media sources.

The total of frozen Russia's assets in the EU is assessed to be nearly €211bn.

Moscow launched widespread aerial attacks across Ukraine on Friday, causing electricity outages in many areas of Kyiv, Kyiv, and multiple additional areas.

While applauding the Britain's firm backing for the Ukrainian government, he noted it should demonstrate clearly that it would take part in the system, as well as impose further sanctions on Russia.
