Israelis have assembled throughout the country to remember two years since the Hamas-led offensive on October 7th, 2023, as talks advanced in the neighboring country over a conclusion to the hostilities in Gaza.

The attack resulted in in excess of 1,200 people killed and 251 others captured away to Gaza as prisoners. It was the most deadliest day for Jewish people since the World War II.

Israel reacted by initiating a armed campaign in Gaza which has killed more than 67,000 people, according to the area's Hamas-controlled health ministry. Its statistics are seen as accurate by the UN and other international bodies.

"The bloodthirsty adversaries have caused great damage, but they have not defeated us," the prime minister remarked on Tuesday.

He also pledged to "achieve all the goals of the war: the homecoming of all the abducted, the destruction of the Hamas regime and the guarantee that Gaza will never again pose a threat to Israel".

Memorial Events Across Israel

The government authorities rescheduled state commemorations until October 16th - after the completion of the Jewish High Holiday season - but ceremonies still occurred around the country on Tuesday.

A memorial ceremony for the relatives of people who died in the Hamas assault was organized in Tel Aviv. Arranged by the victims' relatives, it was broadcast throughout Israeli broadcast stations.

Hours earlier, a minute's silence was held throughout the country.

Peace Discussions in Egypt

At the same time, both sides' negotiating teams gathered in the North African tourist destination of the negotiation venue for a second day of third-party negotiations to review the conditions of the proposal.

A prominent Palestinian official familiar with the negotiations indicated that an late session of mediated discussions began at 19:00 Cairo time.

The official stated the day's discussions concluded without concrete outcomes, because of conflicting views over the suggested Israeli withdrawal maps from Gaza and over assurances Hamas wants to guarantee Israel does not resume fighting after the first phase of the arrangement.

He noted that the talks are "challenging and have yet to deliver any significant progress," but pointed out that intermediaries are working hard to close the gaps between the two sides.

Key Issues in Talks

  • An enduring ceasefire
  • The exchange of the prisoners still detained by Hamas for detainees from Gaza
  • The pullout of military personnel from Gaza
  • Arrangements for assistance deliveries
  • Post-war administration of the area

Public Feeling

In Tel Aviv's memorial area that day, young Hagar - whose family member endured the assault on the outdoor event, where 378 people were lost their lives and dozens more were abducted by Hamas gunmen - shared: "No place seems like home any longer and until each abducted person return not a single person will feel safe."

"After we see everybody home returned, we can relax once more. Then we can begin to rebuild," she added.

In front of the leader's home in the capital, people congregated to show their backing for the families of the hostages. Israel reports 48 stay in captivity in Gaza, twenty of whom are thought to be alive.

Activist one woman explained: "We need do whatever arrangement necessary for the abducted to come back home. But we sincerely need guarantees that we will be secure."

Surveys now consistently show that approximately 70% of the population want the hostilities to finish in as payment for the release of the abducted.

Gaza Conditions

At the area of the gathering, grieving people assembled to remember the victims.

From the site, the boom of Israeli air strikes and artillery could be noticed just a brief space away in Gaza, where observers said the severe Israeli bombardment carried on.

In the urban center, bombardments were reported in the dawn of that day in the west side district, Rimal and Nasr neighbourhoods and in the eastern area of the community, as well the camp to the northwestern area.

"Once the dusk comes, the dread arrives with it," relocated urban resident Emaan al-Wahidi, whose teenage son was died by an Israeli aerial attack earlier, shared.

"We are afraid of the bombings. All the night we are lying together, embracing, particularly my smallest child who rests his face on me throughout the night."

"Constantly we look at the reports to see what happened. And I'm worried that this halt will not be completed and that the fighting will return to us."

Humanitarian Situation

Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City said it had accepted the bodies of several people by the afternoon, including three who died in an Israeli strike in the south part al-Sabra neighbourhood.

Nasser hospital in the southern urban center of that area said two more dead people had been brought there. An individual was killed by Israeli forces while seeking assistance to the south region, medical staff reported.

The region's health ministry reported a significant number of the {territ
