Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was natural for doubts to be asked about his position following another heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the team's worst streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received a lot of backing from the top,” Slot stated.

“It would be great to turn it around and secure a win naturally but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it is normal that people question you.”

He continued, “I accept my position. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach said:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal exchanges I perceive the belief. But I've not talked to them after this match so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Response

The manager lamented known weaknesses from his squad in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a phase such as this with performances like these.”

He finished, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And until it is taken away, we will always fight.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to the top, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
