Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now claimed the season-opening trophy on fourteen different times.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger found the scoring in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side fired twice in the closing moments to seize a surprise lead. First, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial leveler in the final moments to force the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a convincing shootout victory.

The record champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the past thirteen years.
