Los Angeles Faces Historic High Temperatures Only Days Following Severe Winter Storm.
In the wake of heavy downpours that led to inundation across parts of the city, LA is now seeing unusually warm weather for late February.

By Friday afternoon, the mercury soared to 33 degrees Celsius (91 Fahrenheit) in the city center, per data from the National Weather Service. This exceeds the prior high for this date, which was eighty-eight degrees Fahrenheit and was recorded in the previous year.
"Very warm conditions" were noted on forecast charts for the region.
Public Health Alerts
Forecasters issued a warning that Friday's conditions posed an "elevated risk for heat illness" for people sensitive to heat. Their recommendations included:
- Staying hydrated.
- Limiting outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
- Ensuring you do not leave anyone unattended in a parked vehicle.
A Dramatic Shift
This sharp rise in temperature comes on the heels of a powerful winter storm that battered the state recently. That storm unleashed heavy snow, strong winds, and thunderstorms to higher elevations, leading to mudslide risks for many residents.

Weekend Outlook
The outlook suggests cooler conditions is expected. Temperatures were expected to decrease to around 61°F (16°C) in the city by overnight.
Other locales that hit ninety degrees included Long Beach, Burbank, and Woodland Hills. Elsewhere, Westwood, Camarillo, Santa Maria, and Oxnard were expected to reach the upper eighties.
For the weekend, downtown LA can expect weather in the 80s, with cooler weather expected for the following week.
