Iran is prepared to reinitiate atomic talks with Washington on condition that it is approached with "dignity" and "honor", Tehran's top diplomat has announced.

Abbas Araghchi stated exclusively dialogue produced results, and revealed new appeals had been made by go-betweens to resume negotiations with the US government. He said Iran possessed no unreported enrichment locations, and Iran had not yet reached a point to permit the UN nuclear inspectorate to visit bombed nuclear sites for protective measures.

Navigating a Challenging Course

Araghchi is walking a challenging route since Iran does not want be perceived to be operating from a stance of disadvantage, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had emerged more powerful defensively and mentally from the joint assault on its atomic facilities in June.

He was talking at a defense forum in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "an inalienable right to enrich uranium within its borders that it will perpetually retain" – the primary cause of the impasse in the earlier negotiations.

Previous Negotiations Unexpectedly Ended

The prior phases of negotiations between the United States and Iran were concluded unexpectedly and acrimonious end on 12 June when the Israeli government, with Washington's assistance, struck Tehran's atomic facilities in a fortnight-long engagement that ended with Donald Trump declaring the facilities had been destroyed. Subsequently, Western states employed their privilege to reinstate global restrictions, but Iran asserts they have not had a major impact.

Perfect Agreement Suggested

Iran's diplomats stated they felt they had achieved a "perfect agreement" to the enrichment issue in previous talks, when it was agreed an domestic cooperative with US participation could enrich uranium. Both sides would have been able to declare success since local refinement would have continued and the US could be assured that Iran's nuclear programme was exclusively peaceful.

It had not been decided in the discussions that Washington's technical specialists could work on Iranian soil, but that was a reasonable assumption of the consortium proposal. Diplomats stated three times they had reached agreement with Trump's special envoy the American negotiator only for the arrangement to disintegrate due to "spoilers in Washington".

Present Status

Tehran representatives said the partnership proposal was now off the table, but it seems very probable the proposal could be reintroduced in some form if discussions reopen.

The American leader recently stated he had been receiving messages that Iran desired to reopen negotiations, but in private Iranian officials claim they are not yet receiving clear proposals from America either explicitly or from important Middle Eastern intermediaries, such as the Qatari government, the Egyptian leadership, Oman and Saudi Arabia. The Iranian foreign ministry has been criticized of inactivity in the aftermath of Washington's unmediated tactics, but Iran states diplomacy is not part of a show.

Diplomatic Standpoint

In his remarks to the gathering, designed to portray the US as a dominant force that abuses the idea of international law, Araghchi declared the two-week conflict revealed the conflict could not be resolved by military means. He asserted the attacks began with a US demand for an total Iran submission and culminated with an absolute demand for a truce.

Iran is assured the initial Israeli attacks were executed with full US knowledge and coordination, making faith challenging to reestablish.

Negotiations Continues the Ultimate Solution

The foreign minister said: "It was not Iran that had abandoned diplomacy; it was the United States and the European states that had always sought to dictate their demands during the discussions. Diplomacy can still be alive and stays the primary solution to resolve disputes, but its criteria, rules and tenets must be respected."

"In case they talk to the nation of Iran with the approach of respect and honor, they will receive a reply in the same tone."

Restoration and Rebuilding

In what is portrayed by Iran's diplomats as the struggle of repair and recovery, the foreign minister said he was certain Iran's defence capabilities "are much stronger than before 13 or 14 June of this year. Our entire military infrastructure have been restored. We gained numerous insights from this conflict; we have come to know our internal vulnerabilities and the shortcomings of the enemy."

He continued: "We effectively endured this conflict. Our enrichment knowledge, which they planned to eliminate, remains in place. The sites and machinery, if destroyed, will be restored; what is crucial is the will of the nation of Iran and then the social solidarity that they targeted, but failed to break. The nation of Iran have become more powerful, more integrated, and more endorsing of the government and the state in the aftermath of this invasion."
