Iran Reports Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, During Widespread Military Operations.

Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the US has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations associated with the the regime, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with notable success and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.

It said missile fragments fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
