A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

This incident resulted in the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured in the event. Five people went to hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault near the location. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - which police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
